- Marinas del Mediterráneo cedes the facilities of the Port of La Duquesa, where equipment components are expected to come from
The team's athletes Toro SUP, Carlos Rumbado and Carlos Toro, face a new challenge. This time it is the Coastal Path Challenge that consists of walking the Coastal Path that goes from Manilva to Nerja. What's new is how to navigate this magnificent infrastructure 180 kilometers in length that promotes the Provincial Council of Malaga and is that it will be mounted on paddle boards and running on foot.
Mediterranean Marinas collaborates with this initiative by ceding the facilities of the marina of La Duquesa (Manilva) where the components of the Toro SUP team are expected to come out to start the challenge.
The intention is for athletes to average just over 30 miles on their paddle boards and a few 10 kilometers running in each of the four stages. This will lead them to transit the 14 municipalities that are part of the Coastal Path, pasando por Rincón de la Victoria el Viernes Santo y cerrando la aventura el sábado día 3 in Nerja.
The original reason for this challenge was the promotion of the Coastal Path among Malagasys and visitors who wanted to join the route in the different aquatic or terrestrial sections. Given the current health measures, accompaniment will be restricted in walking career segments, pero se espera que los miembros de algunos clubes como Paddle Surf Fuengirola o el Real Club El Candado, meet the athletes of Toro SUP to give them their support.
Although the weather forecast is quite adverse, athletes of the Coastal Path Challenge do not plan to postpone the event. According to the two athletes "the first day will be tremendously hard, with wind gusts against almost 50 km/h that will make eternal 32,6 km from the paddle surf section".
What both Carlos and his ground support team fear most is that the weather is so adverse as to make it impossible to achieve the challenge or to resurface past injuries that could remove any of them. Moreover, declare that the combination of paddle surfing and walking in this challenge makes it more demanding than previous ones and, At the same time, more attractive.
From the Marines Group of the Mediterranean they show all their encouragement and support. It is very rewarding for the group to support local agencies that launch such events where sport and healthy living are promoted, so the entity is always partnering with these initiatives.
