The weekend ends with the victory of 'Marinas del Mediterráneo Trocadero' in the tiebreaker with the 'Land Rover Future'

The team led by Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez also prevails in the XXI Sotogrande Cup

The J/80 'Marinas del Mediterráneo Trocadero' has been imposed this weekend in the XXI Sotogrande Cup, third and final round to the Grand Prix Andalusia. The shipowners' shipowners Pepequín Orbaneja and Juan Luis Páez, with the latter to the cane, needed the tiebreaker to win over John Bassadone's 'Land Rover Future' captained by Oliver Góngora, after an impressive final between the two monotypes. Next to them, completed the podium the 'Tacuarita' of Horacio Cardarelli with seven more points.

Nor would better conditions have been given in the Sotogrande regatta area., where the west wind of 20 medium-intensity knots held throughout the weekend, allowed races competed among a fleet that enjoyed the most in the pursuit of targets. The first day ended with the interim lead of the Bassadone and Góngora team with a 2nd and two consecutive goals, compared to a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd ship of Páez and Orbaneja with shared flag between the RCM Sotogrande and CN Sevilla. Two points ahead for CN Bevelle's Land Rover Future, the second and final round began with a new victory of these against a 2nd of the 'Marinas del Mediterráneo Trocadero', who soon after managed to reduce the distance to a point by winning the fifth test. So things and with the highest tension to the maximum, the two teams faced the last decisive course, that ended with the victory of The Páez against a third of the defenders of the title, which left both tied to seven points, needed from the tiebreaker to resolve the side of 'Mediterranean Marinas Trocadero' to the last partial with the accumulated in the two cases of three partial victories.

For his part Horacio Cardarelli with the 'Tacuarita' got the third best place of the weekend, with a more than meritorious performance that led him to stand in the main pitfall of the previous. Fourth place was for Poland's Halyna Kruczkewycz to the 'Michelle Sailing Team' with a gymp of the RCN in Portosín, a team that joined the J/80 fleet this year based in Sotogrande and that proves that it is coming to stay and give war. Four points, fifth place was for José María Lara's 'Eureka Tech', shared flag between the CN Bevelle and the RCN of The Line of Conception, followed by the same points by the 'Few Oil' of the Royal Gibraltar Yacht, and closing row was classified the Nexum' with the flag of the RCN of the Line of Conception and the RCM Sotogrande of the shipowner Roberto Santa Cruz.

Following the security annulment of the second test envisaged by the past 8 and 9 August in Gibraltar waters under the organization of the Royal Gibraltar Yacht, this weekend was the third and final call of the Grand Prix in its edition 2020 organized by CN Bevelle. With a test for the 'Land Rover Future' and another for the 'Mediterranean Marinas Trocadero' we will soon meet the winner of the first edition of this circuit that was born with aspirations of continuity.
