The Marinas of the Mediterranean Group applies a system of maintenance management in its facilities in pursuit of excellence

  • The company that manages the concessions of the Puerto de La Duquesa, Port of Estepona and Marina del Este, presents its Maintenance Management System at the First Professional Day of Marinas of Andalusia

The Mediterranean marine group, company that manages the concessions of Estepona's marinas, The Duchess in Manilva and Marina del Este in Almuñécar, has in place in the maintenance of the facilities of its port facilities a preventive plan that pursues, on the one hand, optimize own resources and on the other hand, seek excellence in both the customer service offered and the quality of the same and the facilities.

As explained by the Director of Marine Operations of the Mediterranean, engineer Alejandro Suanes, all measures implemented pursue a fundamental objective programmed in three phases; First of all, comply with all legal and administrative obligations that a marina has, as well as ensuring safety, the provision of port services and to resolve one-off incidents quickly and effectively, so that customers have the best possible experience at the marina.

Once all the mandatory aspects have been fulfilled, would enter a second phase which are all the necessary maintenances for good service. I mean, undertake quarterly or annual monthly reviews, as the case may be, of all the elements of the fire installations, electric and mooring, as well as water facilities, sanitation, boathouse and toilets, among others.

With these periodic maintenances, the third phase of the preventive maintenance plan is reached in search of excellent service, such as keeping daily checks of electrical installations, oversizing fire installations to prevent an accident and for example, renew anchoring capes frequently and install systems that favor mooring manoeuvre, among many other measures to improve customer service and service.

The Chief Operating Officer of the Mediterranean Marine Group, Alejandro Suanes, has exposed this Maintenance Management System during the celebration of the First Professional Day of Marinas of Andalusia held at the end of last November at the facilities of the Real Club Nautico El Candado. In the course of this professional meeting, Suanes stated that "With good management of a marina you can optimize resources so that all maintenance is planned and organized, which decreases the corrective maintenance required".

For the Managing Director of the Mediterranean Marine Group, Manuel Raigon, one of the fundamental objectives of the company has always been to implement such maintenance plans that pursue an excellent level of quality, executed with large internal staff knowledgeable of all the facilities and needs of the port premises, and that it strikes a perfect balance between preventive and corrective maintenance.
