East Navy staff receive basic initial training course on semi-automatic defibrillators
In the face of cardiac arrest, every minute counts. That is why it is essential that people have training in this regard. Following the training philosophy that characterizes Mediterranean Navies, the staff of the Marina del Este marina have received the training course on Basic Life Support and DESA.
The objective of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary so that our staff can make first attention to a cardiac arrest, until the specialized health teams arrive. The teacher has explained how to use a semi-automatic external defibrillator (Desa) and how to perform basic life support effectively. Also, attendees have conducted practices with simulations in order to learn how to control situations of nerves or distress that may take hold of us in those moments.
The semi-automatic external defibrillator (Desa) is a portable electronic device that diagnoses and treats cardiorespiratory arrest. This device emits a pulse of direct current to the heart. AED is very effective for most so-called cardiac arrests.
