The marina of Estepona has hosted the workshop "In the sea, leave only your wake", awareness raising awareness of the waste dump at sea delivered by the Clean Landscape Association. 

The problem of dumping waste into the sea is a complication that has been increasing over the years. Like this, Marina de Estepona is committed to this problem and has held the workshop "At sea, leave only your wake", an awareness campaign in order to promote the civic behaviour of marina users and try to eliminate this inconvenience on our shores.

To the event, held in the Navigaport Hall of the Control Tower and taught by the Clean Landscape Association, have attended a large group of stakeholders, users of the marina and the Mediterranean Marinas staff theself, who have known first-hand the fundamental aspects of the issue such as what are marine litter or how to manage the waste generated by users when they go sailing and those generated by the boat itself. In addition, have subsequently participated in a debate and sharing of ideas and advice.

This awareness campaign is part of the Waste Generation Prevention project and its inadequate disposal in the Marine environment, focused on inshore and recreational fishing boats, with the support of the Biodiversity Foundation and European funds FEMP. And in Spain there are more than 9.000 inshore fishing boats and around 230.000 pleasure boats. So, it is important to raise awareness among the users and fishermen of sports boats to carry out proper waste management.

According to Manuel Raigón, general director of Marinas of the Mediterranean, "we are aware that our shores have extensive recreational use, so they deserve special attention to the high risk of contamination they may suffer; that's why, we welcome such initiatives to contribute to public awareness and commitment to the problem of marine litter and the dumping of waste into the sea."
