Students of IES Las Viñas learn about marine litter in Puerto de la Duquesa

In the vicinity of puerto de la Duquesa an environmental activity has been organized with a group of students from first graders of the I.E.S Las Viñas. manilva. The action, where teens have learned in a practical way, has been focused on the issue of marine litter. The activity,  organized by Mediterranean Navies, has been led by the skilled biologist Marta Valverde Viguera who, to get started, explained to students what marine litter and microplastics are, in order for them to learn some basic notions before giving way to practical activities. Subsequently, students have had to conduct a search and characterization of waste on the beach.

Finally,  the group has also been able to enjoy a playful activity with kayaks and paddle surfing on the beach next to the port, organized by the company Andalucía Activities.

Environmental awareness is a priority for the Mediterranean Marines group; for that reason, strategic plans include these kinds of education and environmental awareness activities.
