An essential and fundamental principle of Grupo Marinas del Mediterráneo is to base any development or growth strategy on its clear and decisive commitment to the environment. It is conscious of its responsibility of managing an asset that is not only in the public domain but, at the same time, is one of high natural value.
Marinas, and in general the whole coastline, are environments which are very sensitive to human action and uncontrolled industrial activity can irreversibly exhaust their assets. A clear commitment to respect the environment has been endorsed by the awarding during several successive years of the Blue Flag (www.blueflag.org) to all marinas of the Group. This distinction ensures that every marina and beach to which it is granted has attained a very high level of quality.
At present Marinas del Mediterráneo Este is involved in the development of its own Environmental Management Manual, at the same time as redefining its work procedures to ensure a lesser environmental impact in each of its daily tasks. This process will culminate in the corresponding certification guaranteeing fulfilment of the ISO 14000 standard. Efforts by the company to harmonise nautical activity and respect for the natural surroundings presented by the Bay of La Herradura are highlighted and the quality of the waters, security and environmental management have been recognised.
Marina del Este is the only marina in the province of Granada to fly the distinguished Blue Flag and it is an essential and basic principle of the concessionary company to base any development or growth strategy on its clear and decisive commitment to the environment.
